Well, that's the million dollar question. And I can't say that we know the answer to that specifically. But here's what we do know about our venture into the world of Web 2.0:
1) By creating profiles on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter, we've given our brand a soul and personality it didn't have before.

2) By talking WITH people and not just AT them, we've created "trusted agents" or "brand evangelists" that are preaching the gospel of Bread Winners to their friends and followers. Giving us a word-of-mouth experience we couldn't have gotten any other way.

3) By using social media sites to expose people to the range of goods and services we provide, we've educated our customers and exposed them to aspects of the business they didn't know we offered before. We are staying top-of-mind when they are making buying decisions on a daily basis.

4) We've gotten great feedback from our customers about what they like - and don't like - about our food, our staff, our hours and other aspects of our business that have provided invaluable information to help make us a better restaurant, bakery and bar.
And the best thing is having people say nice things about you. We LOVE the positive reinforcement!!! It's so rewarding to hear from your patrons that you are doing a good job.

So, can we attribute direct sales to social media? The hardest thing about advertising in any medium is knowing if it works or not. Maybe we can't track sales to social media any better than we can attribute sales from our print ads or inserts into the newspaper. But all you have to do is read the kind of tweets and posts we see, like the ones above, every day to know that there's no WAY we're going back now.

This is great! PR Manager from Cooper Aerobics Center here, we are really working to get an avid group of fans on social media. Love your model!
ReplyDeleteI think you guys do a great job.
ReplyDeletejust please, please, PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, don't start posting links on Twitter that lead directly to a facebook page with the exact same announcement (pictures and blog posts appreciated).
And I am still waiting on that "breakfast for dinner" night!
